Jiro Fujiwara was born in Asago, Hyogo.
He remembers soft light at home inside traditional Japanese house and the darkness at night.
Morning ray of light goes through the window frames and he sees the light and shadow.

Fujiwara enjoys the experience of the light and shadow as anyone does listening to music.
He expresses it as musicians do.
He originally decided to become a photographer when he read “陰影礼賛（In-ei Rai-san） written by a famous Japanese writer, Junichiro Tanizaki (1886-1965)”.

He learned that soft light emphasis of the light gradation.
Kabuki make-up and folding screens by Maruyama Okyo are good examples.
He informs the meanings through the camera as he draws and makes a poem.
